Fuhe–Zhongzheng Bridges Floodwall Walkway

Last month I was walking to Yonghe via Zhongzheng Bridge (中正橋) and wondered if the older Zhongzheng Bridge—Cuanduan Bridge 川端橋—would have an access to the walkway atop floodwall, which runs all the way to Fuhe Bridge for about 1.7km.

It did look like a possibility without that metal block. Zhongzheng Bridge has been redeveloped since 2019, every time went up this bridge was like opening a blind box, something might be new or blocked.

Upon seeing this, I wanted to walk on that walkway. The old bridge was scheduled to reopen in the end of this year. I planned to wait until then, but due to raining, this walkway was much safer than a hiking trail.

Tuesday, a workday morning, I rode a YouBike to the Fuhe Bridge through riverside path, parked the bike inside the floodwall, then walked out Fuhe Retractable Gate (福和橫移門). There was a pedestrian overpass over Huanhe E Road that could also reached the walkway, but I wanted to go up from outside the floodwall, because there were restrooms just by the outer entrance.

Sidenote: peeked from the entrance of the Fuhe Bridge Traditional Market (福和橋市場), it's already opened for business and quite a few buyers before 6:30. The traditional markets like Liuhe or Minzhi (六合/民治), 7 o'clock still too early, barely fully open, if any, they were still stocking up produces.

The walk began at 6:31.

6:33  Fuhe Sports Park
When I just came up, I only saw one man at bench, this walkway wasn't going to be crowded The tracks down the Fuhe Sports Park might be more suitable for morning joggers or step-counting walkers. It's probably around 30 apparent degrees, but it's comfortably warm.

Continued towards Yongfu Bridge.
6:36 Yongfu Bridge Huanhe E Road On-ramp
I don't think I had ever went through this on-ramp, which seemed to have a sharper turn than Fuhe Bridge Chenggong Road On-ramp. Walking at 3kph speed, a leisure stroll while these vehicle rushing at 20kph if not much faster.

6:54 near the Boai Pedestrian Overpass, up to this point, I'd probably only encountered three or five people, another five or seven after this.
6:54 Boai Pedestrian Overpass
This flood barrier structure was a wall, not a wide concrete block, the walkway was an overhanging platform. Bicycles seem acceptable on this walkway since the bike ramp was on the edge of staircase..

A proper bike ramp, but not suitable for wheelchair.
7:07 the end of walk.
